General questions
Reimage is an online repair tool that quickly repairs broken Windows XP software, leaving user data untouched.
Reimage is tailored exclusively for PC technicians and IT Professionals like yourself. Imitating the manual process of PC repair, Reimage does it faster, helping you increase productivity.
Reimage is a web service that rapidly diagnoses operating system problems. Reimage surgically implements repairs by accessing a huge web repository of 4 million “spare” systems files and registry objects.
Reimage has an exclusive access to a dynamically updated web repository of fresh system components - used as "spare" parts for the repair.
No other PC repair/registry repair software on the market offers this.
For a limited period during the Beta phase only, you can use Reimage absolutely free.
Setup
As a web-based service that runs inside the browser, Reimage requires no prior downloading or installation. To avoid a frustratingly slow repair process, we recommend a minimum of 394MB of RAM on the PC under repair and a high speed internet access.
Reimage is currently only available for repairing Windows-based XP operating systems (English only).
Not yet. Once you become a registered user (registration), we will inform you once platforms other than Windows XP come on stream.
Yes! Registered users can download a free copy of our bootable CD builder that establishes Internet access from a damaged or broken PC.
Repair process
Depends on RAM, Hard Disk and line speed. Repair often takes less than 30 minutes.
If you have made no major changes to the PC file system, you can safely reverse the whole repair process. To undo, simply run Reimage again (on the same PC), and click the "undo" button.
Not really, but the elimination of so many software problems will allow you to isolate and diagnose many hardware failures.
No. In very rare cases where an application has already been harmed by malicious software, you might need to reinstall that specific application.
Post repair
You can view, delete, search and print the repair history at any time. Reimage stores past repairs in a secure server, and only shares this data with the authorized user.
A detailed printable report specifying the faulty components is generated by default. You can also generate a non-technical report for your client.
During the repair Reimage may mistakenly assume that a certain service or application is harmful to the system operation. Consequently, components may be disabled. In order to re-activate a program use MS msConfig utility (Start->Run->msconfig), track the disabled program, and mark it to be active again.
Reimage finalizes a repair by building a fresh operating system in good physical shape, though not necessarily up to date with MS latest updates. That’s why after reboot you will frequently be asked to download some updates to bring you up to date with the latest MS recommendations. It is OK to reject these updates, but it is always recommended to consider installing them.
Handling viruses
Reimage deactivates viruses and make sure they will not be executed again after reboot. Reimage also repair the damage they may cause. However, viruses may remain on the PC, so it is highly recommended to run a good AntiVirus software after the repair in order to clean the hard disk.
Yes. Reimage is not an Antivirus software. It will fix the operating system and terminate startup of harmful objects, but hidden malicious files may still reside in other parts of the PC hard disk. That’s why we recommend you to scan the entire PC for viruses immediately after completing the repair and the PC reboot.
It is recommended to turn off the Antivirus protection and in some cases to login in Safe mode. The reason for that is that Antivirus applications can dramatically halt – and sometimes even terminate - the repair process.
On-site repairs
Yes, by accessing a special non-branded web page from the comfort of your customer’s house.
Yes. Once you register, you can upload your brand/logo to appear on all reports.
Security and privacy
No. Upon completion of the Reimage process the repair report is confidentially stored in the personal user’s account. These reports are managed by the person who made the repair, and cannot be accessed by anyone else. Once the process is completed, the application vanishes.
