Sophos Discovers New Trojan Malware
A new Trojan malware has been detected by IT security company Sophos.
According to a report by Contractor UK, almost 50 percent of all the infections identified in the UK on legitimate websites are caused by the new malware.
Attacks by such malicious software may result in a slow computer and users are advised to seek professional computer repair to try to solve the problem.
The new Trojan, which was named “Gumblar” or “JSRedir-R,” targeted Internet sites that generate high traffic.
The company said that the number of detections was six times higher than that of Mal/fram, which has been the most widespread Web-based malware until now.
Security company ScanSafe said that the number of attacks by Gumblar rose by 188% last week. The company said that the attacks were carried out in multiple stages, beginning in March. They added that by using sophisticated tactics the malicious code creators were able to disguise their activity, making it very difficult for security experts to follow them.
Sophos experts said that having “blown all previous Web-based malware out of the water,” the new malware is currently the most widespread Web-based threat.
