Malware Discovered on XP Netbook

Malicious software has been discovered on a new Windows XP netbook, antivirus developer Kaspersky Labs warned.

The company said it found an attack code on Microsoft’s new netbook and urged users to start also scanning new systems to check if they are infected by malware.

Users of machines that have been infected by such malware often feel that their computer runs slower than usual. It seems that in this case, even if it is a brand new computer, it is advisable to get a computer repair.

Reportedly, the infected netbook just came out of the box and was still in the original packaging. According to a report in Computerworld.com, Kaspersky experts said it appears that the malicious software has been loaded onto the Companion Touch netbook at the factory.

They said they discovered three pieces of malware, including a variant of the AutoRun worm that spreads from PC to PC through USB sticks.
