Multi Malware Attacks on Twitter

Users of the micro-blogging service Twitter are being exposed to a growing number of viruses and other malware, industry sources say.

For example, new versions of Mikeyy cross-site scripting worm are attacking the popular sites.

Worms and other forms of malicious software have infected tens of millions computers. PC owners who feel that they are suffering from slow computer often need to get their computer repaired.

Reportedly, another worm has attacked Twitter followers of public figures such as Oprah Winfrey and Ashton Kutcher.

“Many Twitter users are spreading messages on behalf of a new version of the Mikeyy worm; this time their common denominator is that they’re all jokes including the (somewhat bizarre) word ‘wompw,’” Graham Cluley, senior security consultant at anti-virus firm Sophos wrote in his blog.

“Once again, Twitter is left looking amateurish in its response, as it clearly hasn’t properly hardened its systems against these kinds of cross-site scripting attacks. Until they get their act together, users need to remember to turn off scripting (the combination of Firefox and NoScript is a good one) if viewing users’ profiles,” he said.
